Race for the Cure
Yesterday Aaron and I experienced our first Denver Race for the Cure and it was absolutely amazing. For those of you that don't know, Denver has had the largest number of people participate in this event for the last two years. This year, an unbelievable 65,365 people participated- making it the largest ever! Through the Zeta alum group I've recently joined, I was given the opportunity to work at the survivor tent (which I also volunteered Aaron to help with) where they pass out the pink t-shirts and some other goodies and I can't even express how moving the experience was. I met women who had just been diagnosed within the last week w/ breast cancer as well as women who had been surviving the disease for over 3 decades. There were friends and family of survivors who were there for women who couldn't make it bc there were currently undergoing treatment, as well as women themselves who were currently going through chemo. I felt very blessed to be able to help these women in a small way and I was very touched and impressed by their courage and strength. So even though we had to get up at 4:30 in the morning, Aaron and I were both very glad that we went and were a part of this record-breaking day.
