Latest goings-on

We sold the house! Yeah! In other news, I hate job-hunting. Doesn't anyone know of a job that I would actually ENJOY??? Too bad I'm not an accountant. Or an engineer (damn you, Aaron). Or basically anything marketable. Wait... I'm not exactly sure I have a title besides "someone who doesn't want to be a preschool teacher anymore". Why don't they have ads in the classifieds for one of those?! I would definitely be the best candidate.

April Update

It appears as though it's time for my monthly post, since I've been sort of crappy about remembering to write anything lately. Lots has been going on, though, so I'll try and update everyone.

Since we're still planning on moving home to Kansas (probably at the very end of May) we've put our house on the market. We've had an open house and quite a bit of traffic coming through to look at the house, which is good. But it's such a pain in the butt to have to make sure the house is clean EVERY morning when we leave the house in case anyone were to want to come look at the house. It also kind of sucks having to leave the house for 2-hour blocks of time when we have guests. But I'm not going to complain about it too much, because we definitely want people looking at the house. We're really hoping and praying that the house will sell quickly so that we don't have a mortgage to pay after we move back to Kansas.

I've been trying to find a job in the kc area, which is always a delightful task. I truly believe that there is nothing more miserable than job-hunting (with the exception of serious illness and death). It's proving especially difficult since I don't really know what I want to do. All I know is that I really don't want to teach again anytime in the near future. If I did, Aaron and I would never have kids:). So if anyone knows of any good jobs, let me know! I'm definitely in the market.

In other news, I've finally worn Aaron down to letting us get a dog! When we move home, my brother's going to give us one of his chocolate lab puppies:) I haven't picked out which one yet, but I will soon. Now we just need to come up w/ a cute name...

There's other insignificant stuff going on too. But I don't want to bore everyone w/ the little stuff. I just wanted to get the big stuff down so that people will stop nagging me about updating my dang blog!

BIG NEWS

No, I'm not pregnant!! Sorry, that's been everyone's first question. The real news is that Aaron has accepted a job in Kansas City and we'll be moving home in May! It was sort of unexpected- we weren't really thinking that Aaron would get a good enough offer to make up for the money we may lose on our house. But Burns & McDonnell surprised us and it was too good an offer for Aaron to pass up. So he'll start the first week in June and we'll probably move back around Memorial Day weekend.

It's sort of bittersweet for us since we really love Colorado and have made some good friends out here. We're just getting the hang of skiing:) and, of course, we'll miss Ben and Beth terribly. But there's lots to look forward to as well, especially being closer to our family and a majority of our friends- not to mention hopefully grad school for me. So we're very excited about this opportunity...now we just have to worry about selling our house.

Update

Things have been pretty calm around here for a while. It's been some time since I've updated this thing, but I kind of figured I hadn't done anything noteworthy. And no one wants to read about uneventful weekends spent at Costco and doing laundry. So I've been neglecting my blog as a result. However, my boredom today has led me back here. I'm at home sick today, unfortunately. It's nice to have the time off, but I really wish I didn't feel so crappy so I could actually enjoy it.
And really, who wants to spend an entire day at home alone? I suppose there are probably a ton of people who would enjoy it, but I'm not one of them. I need a little more interaction. Speaking of, I suppose I'll get back to emailing as many people as possible in the hopes of getting news back from them.

Winter Blues

I've decided that it's time for spring, possibly even summer, to be here already. With our sixth weekend in a row of snow, I'm definitely tired of bad roads and cold weather. And there's the whole getting dark at 5:00 thing... That's getting old. It's just entered that time where the newness of snow and winter has worn off. And I'd really like for my friends and family to be able to come and see me in Denver! It's kind of hard to talk them into it when I've already had one friend's trip canceled due our lovely weather.

On a side-note, my parent-teacher conferences begin this week and will continue to the end of next week. I'm not too worried about them bc nearly all of my kids are doing really well. But, it's still a little nerve-racking seeing as how I've never done them before. So think good thoughts for me in the coming weeks that they go well!!

I think that's about all for now. It's just nice to have Aaron's schedule back to normal again so we can actually see each other (besides the 2 hour period that we would sleep in the same bed at the same time:). Hope everyone has a great week!!!
